Mr. Henry C. Dawson passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

Mr. Henry Dawson born to the late Arthur and Ruth Dawson, was a native of Montgomery, Alabama, and a resident of Tampa for more than 40 years.

He attended public schools in Montgomery County.  He was baptized at an early age and was surrounded by ministers and singers.  As a young teen, he worked at an icehouse, on a golf course, and picked up odd jobs to help out the family.  He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and Alabama State College where he received (BA, MA) degrees in Mathematics.  He was the left-hand quarterback (high school and college) who led his teams to victory. At Alabama State College, he worked in the Math Department as an assistant. He entered the USAR and after basic training, his orders sent him to Europe.

Mr. Dawson’s love for Mathematics is the reason for his success in Hillsborough County Schools and HCC. He often stated, if you learn the rule, you can solve any math problem. Mr. Dawson had a heart of gold and would help any person (students, teachers, administrators) in mathematics.  He thoroughly enjoyed teaching at risk boys math lessons and life lessons.  Believe it or not, he taught exercise classes, swimming, and tennis. He enjoyed competing with his friends on and off the tennis court. He worked for Fair Oaks Recreation Center and USF Summer program.

Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by: his parents; aunts; uncles; 4 brothers; and 1 sister.

Mr. Henry Dawson leaves to cherish his loving memories:  son, Mark Mainville; sister, Marjorie Hollinhead of Jamaica Queens New York; his other half (33 years), Patricia Washington; and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
