Frankie Edwin Alford, 74, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016, in Tallahassee, after a lengthy illness. Frankie was born on March 9, 1942, in Merigold, Mississippi. He is preceded by his parents James L. and Wilma Fowler Alford. Frankie was a valued employee of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi until he retired in 1990. Along with his wife, he was a faithful member at Thomasville Road Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara Newman Alford, who was also his loving caretaker and friend; children, Melanie Alford, Joel (Kara) Alford, Evelyn (Talmadge) Roberts and April (Frank) Linville; grandchildren, Becca Alford, Emily Alford, Mason Roberts, Tucker Roberts, Riley Roberts, Eleanor Linville, Mary Helen Linville and Sidney Clair Linville; his siblings, Richard (Diana) Alford, Jimmy (Pat) Alford, Anne (Don) Jones and Lynn (Clayton) Ralph; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Bennett. He is also survived by his cat, Sparkles.
