F. Ray Harvey, 80, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016. He was born February 16, 1936, in the small community of Shady Grove, Mississippi, the eldest son of Vester and Annie Harvey.

He was a loving husband of 59 and 1/2 years to his high school sweetheart, Sandra Clippinger Harvey; a devoted father to son, Steven, who preceded him in death in 2005; daughter, Lisa Oberlies (husband, Bruce); and grandson, Josh Milligan (wife, Shannon). He is also survived by two younger brothers, John Harvey (wife, Nancy, deceased) and Pete Harvey (wife, Judy).

Ray graduated from Mississippi State University in 1959, with a B.S. from the School of Agriculture. He was immediately hired by Mississippi Chemical Corporation, where he was a field representative for 40 years. He and his family have resided in Tallahassee since 1977. He was an active member and usher at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, as well as the Burley Law Sunday School Class. Ray’s favorite pastime was playing golf, but he also loved to read, travel, work out at Gold’s Gym twice a week, putter around in his yard and spending time with family and friends. He was a blessing and an inspiration to those who knew and loved him, but most of all, he’ll be remembered for his impeccable integrity and for his utter devotion to his faith.
