Elmer “Al” Verespey, 91 a long time resident of Milford, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Milford Hospital Hospice. Born on January 1920, he was the son of the late John J. and Anna Pallo Verespy and was raised in Olyphant, PA. He was the husband of Bridget Verespey for 64 years.

Al proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as a member of the D-Day landing forces on Omaha Beach, Normandy and was wounded in action at St. Lo, France for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a tool and die maker with the Bassick Company in Bridgeport for many years before his retirement and was a member of Milford Chapter 15, Disabled American Veterans and the Milford Senior Center.

Al is survived by his daughers, Barbara Yankowski and her husband Henry of East Haven, Nancy Henderson and her husband Raymond of CA and Donna Bump and her husband Steven of Milford; a sister, Helen Vail and a brother, Stephen Verespy, both of Olyphant, PA; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and John J. Verespy, Jr.
