Elbert Hill, Jr. was born November 12, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia at Grady Memorial Hospital to the late Elbert Hill and the late Narcissia Tiller Hill.
He was educated in the Atlanta Public School System. Elbert attended C. W. Hill Elementary School and Samuel H. Archer High School where he was affectionately known as “Bird”. He was a member of the Band Club, the marching band where he was the assistant band director and played the tuba and was voted Most Handsome. He graduated from Samuel H. Archer High School in 1959.
Elbert was employed as a welder for many years, working at Dinkins Hardware, Bankhead Welding and Alsco. He perfected his craft and was proud of his work. He married Billie Jean Simon and to this union three children were born, Elbert III, Jean and Darvi. He later married Ottie Willis and to this union one child was born, Thea.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Narcissia Hill; and his brother, Tommie Hill. He leaves to cherish his life: four children, Elbert III (Sheila), Jean, Darvi (Christine) and Thea; a special son, Elam; one brother, Samuel (Evelyn); two sisters, Norris Payne and Patricia Long Ray; one aunt, Ceree Bowden; ten grandchildren, Justin, Garrett, Erion, Barbara, Alexandra, Ezacia, Phlecia, Carlecia, Eli and Amir; four great grandchildren, Garrett, Jr., Za’Khia, Sarae and Saeani. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins and friends
