Edward Dewitt Curry, Sr., 90, of Edgewater, formerly of Tallahassee, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020, at the Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Edgewater. He was born in Tallahassee on February 4, 1930, to the late Polly Ogburn Granger.
Also preceding him in death are his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Geneva Conger Curry; sons, Luther Edward “Buddy” Curry, Larry Wayne Johnson and Milton Johnson; son-in-law, Rex Kimbrough; and brothers, Billy Granger, Jimmy Lee Granger and Jackie Granger.
He is survived by his children, Edward Dewitt Curry, Jr., (wife, Tina), Beverly Ann Wessinger, Shirley Jean Kimbrough, Bonnie Smith, Kathy Dickerson (husband, Tim), Judy Spencer, Hayward Melvin Johnson (wife, Viccie), James Aaron Johnson, (wife, Tameca), Charles William Johnson (wife, Judy); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, David Granger, Danny Granger, Bobby Granger, Pete Granger, Minnie Mae Jones and Gencie Granger Shaw. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
After serving in the US Coast Guard, he went to work as an Insurance Salesman and later owned and operated a thrift store with his wife. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and cooking and was a member at Christian Life Fellowship.
