Earl Louis Hymel, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and resident of Diamondhead, Mississippi for the past 19 years, passed away at age 78 on April 10, 2010 in New Orleans, after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Rosemary C. Hymel. Father of Rosina H. Fank, Debra H. Kirchem, and Sandra H. Crenshaw. Father-in-law of Gary G. Fank, Charles J. Kirchem, III and James A. Crenshaw, III. Grandfather of Shelly M. Fank, Stacey F. Santos (Bert), Colleen K. Theriault (Chris), and Charles J. Kirchem, IV (Megan). Son of the late Dewey Hymel and Edith Abreo Hymel. Brother of Milton Hymel, Theresa Godt, Arthur Hymel, Leonie Farringer and the late Albert Hymel. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Having served 30 years on the New Orleans Fire Department, he was also a Charter Member of the New Orleans Association of Fire Chiefs and retired from the NOFD as a District Chief in 1986. As an avid golfer he was originator of the Coon-Ass Golf Association and a member of the Diamondhead Men’s Golf Association.
