Douglas Poirier, 53 of Milford, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the CT Hospice in Branford. Born on February 27, 1958 in New Haven, he was the son of the late Doris Swift Acampora and Donald Poirier.
Doug graduated from Lyman Hall High School in 1976, after which he worked as a graphic artist for Gamma One for many years before starting his own business as a freelance graphic artist. He was known for his love of skiing and bicycling. Doug also greatly enjoyed the performing arts, especially the theatre, and possessed many talents such as drawing and making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Doug is survived by his long time companion, Judith Phelps of Milford, CT; his siblings, Doreen Stec of Lisle, IL, Donna Emery of Myrtle Beach, SC, Vernon Acampora of Long Beach, CA, Carl Acampora of New York, NY, Jody Acampora of Cromwell, CT, and KC Acampora of Stamford, CT; and three step-siblings, Mary, Carol and TJ.
