Donald Ray Ruis, 78, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at his residence, while surrounded by his loving family.
A son of Joseph S. Ruis and Hazel V. Brown Ruis, of blessed memory, he was born in Moultrie, Georgia in August 22, 1942. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Ruis Kirkland; and sister, Judy Ann Ruis.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Geri Norman Ruis; son, Wendell Peacock (wife, Janet); daughter, Cheryl Kane; granddaughters, Megan Snooks and Dianna Kane; grandsons, Andrew Peacock, Justin Ralston and Drew Kirkland; great-grandson, Cohen Newman; sisters, Betty Strickland (husband, Charlie) and Brenda Dekle (Simeon); brothers, Jerry Ruis (wife, Lolly) and Bobby Ruis (wife, Janice); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A talented woodworker, he owned and operated Excel Moulding for many years. A devoted member at Evangel Church, he served as an Usher for many years, enjoyed saltwater fishing and deeply loved his family.
