Donald C. Strickland, Sr., beloved husband of 67 ½ years to the late Willo Dean Mitchell Strickland, peacefully passed away at his daughter’s home on Saturday, February 6, 2016. His family surrounded him with love and honor as he entered Heaven’s gates. He was born September 10, 1928, in Moultrie, Georgia, to the late Stephen Elias and Georgia Ann Tillman Strickland. After honorably serving in the US Army, 82nd Airborne, Green Beret, he became a barber and farmer. He was a member of the 100 Club of Business of Tallahassee and the Masonic Lodge. However, his true calling was that of a grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Strickland Buchan, and husband, Van; his adored grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Buchan (Steven R.) Kemp, David Chad (Nikki T.) Strickland, Joshua Van (Trisha T.) Buchan, Betsy W. Strickland (Jacob) Forehand, Douglas C. (Marcie) Strickland; great-grandchildren, Clayton S. Kemp, Shelby J. Kemp, Wyatt N. Kemp, Vann R. Buchan, Colton S. Buchan, Jude Forehand, Dawson Strickland and Paisley Strickland; and his sisters, Margie S. Vickory and Betty Jean Riggs. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Betty Strickland and Dorothy Morehead, and a daughter-in-law, Lisa W. Strickland, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends, who dearly loved him and will dearly miss him. He now joins his wife and childhood sweetheart, Willo Dean Strickland; sons, David Julian Strickland and Donald C. Strickland, Jr.; and his parents, in Heaven.
