Dewey Delano “Johnny” Furches, 84, of Tallahassee, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017. A son of the late Melton Zack and Ella Mae Cole Furches, he was born October 8, 1932, in Chuckey, Tennessee. He is also preceded in death by several siblings. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 21 years of faithful service. Following his military career, he became a Postal Clerk with the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and sports, especially NASCAR and FSU Baseball. He is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Beverly Furches; children, Mike Furches and Mike (Lynn) Helton; grandchildren, Mike (Vanessa) Helton, Jr., Amanda (Reaney) Rushing, Darren (Ali) Helton and Chase Helton; great-grandchildren, Payton Rushing, Reid Helton, and another great-grandchild soon to arrive; a sister, Dot Martin; and a brother, Milton Furches. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
