David Verdell was born on April 23, 1949 in Jennings, Florida to the late Johnny Verdell and Alice B. Verdell.

He was home schooled and always liked to work.  David had a heart full of love and fun.  His favorite football team was the Pittsburg Steelers.  He loved riding his four-wheeler, driving his truck, and going fishing.  He spent his final years in the nursing home with his brother Willie, but he came home and died at home with his sister Jackie.  David lived with John and Lawanda Mosley Ponville for about 30 years or more.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Alice Verdell; two brothers, Ike Verdell and Johnny Verdell Jr.; two sisters, Lorine Verdell Bryant and Alberta Denson; niece, Demetrice L. Johnson and grandmother, Ethel Burgess Gachee.

He leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Jackie V. Smith (John), Screven Georgia; Beatrice Cherry, Largo Florida; two brothers, Willie Verdell, Altamaha Nursing Home, Jesup, Georgia, Tommy Verdell, Syracuse New York; niece Angel Primus, “because he always asked when she was coming to see him”; a niece, Cynthia Verdell of Hinesville, Georgia; a nephew, Donald Cherry, Sr of Norfolk, Virginia, that their mother raised as her own; and a cousin that loved him very much, Betty Ruth Burgess; a host of nieces and nephews; a special family, John and Lawanda Mosley Ponville; Brian, Amanda and Brooklyn Manning, Jesup, Georgia.; and a very special person to David was Brian Manning.
