Danny Ray Hill, 74, of Tallahassee, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020, while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Marianna, Florida on October 19, 1945, he was a son of the late John Henry and Cora Elizabeth Lee Hill.
He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Ada Lawson, Marie Smith, Annie Pittman and Vernon Hill; and a very dear friend, Tommy Hollifield. After honorably serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, where he received the Purple Heart, he and his wife moved to Tallahassee and he went to work as a mechanic and welder with Ring Power and also owned a lawn care business from 1988 until 2018. A strong quiet Christian man, he was a faithful member at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, where he served as an Usher for many years. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, working, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. During his life, he was also very proud of being a 20 gallon blood donor.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Linda Mears Hill; daughter, Lisa Hill; bonus daughter, Kinita Bishop; grandsons, Robert “R.J.” Montgomery (wife, Ashley), Jackson Montgomery and Wade Varnum; great-grandson, Cash Montgomery; sister, Mary Magalene Neel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
