Mr. Charles E. Lovelace,Sr. 75, of 204 Kirkland Dr., Fayetteville, died on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Charles transitioned peacefully from this life after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life. Charles was born in Cedartown, GA, but has lived in Fayetteville, NC since 1968. Charles graduated from Cedartown High School. He served in the US Army Special Forces, where he served two tours in Vietnam. While on the Dean’s list, he received Associates Degrees in Business Management and Merchandising from LaFayette College in Fayetteville, NC. He retired in a management position from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant in Fayetteville, NC. Those who were fortunate to know Charles will miss his quiet, gentle spirit. He loved to work out and collect different types of cars. He served humbly and gave generously of his time, talents and treasures.
Charles is survived by four children: Charles Lovelace, Jr. (Michelle) of Fayetteville, NC, Tammy Lovelace Gibson (Wade) of High Point, NC, Donna Lovelace Ford (Daniel) of Marietta, GA and Danny Lovelace of Rome, GA; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Charles is also survived by his sister Mary Calhoun and his loving girlfriend of 28 years, Teblez Deleon.
He was preceded in death by his brother Robert L. Lovelace and his parents Cora and Felt Lovelace. He cherished his special friendships with Samuel Key, Doug Glenn and Robert McCullum.
