Mr. Carroll C. Fisher, age 72 years of Niles, Michigan died at 11:09 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Michigan.

He was born on March 21, 1942 in Pascola, Missouri to Goah John and Alice Marie (Spears) Fisher. He attended the former Sumnerville School, and has lived here most of his life. He was first employed at the former Niles Plant of Simplicity Pattern Company, and then employed for many years at National-Standard. He concluded his career at the Duwell company in Dowagiac.

“Fish” and his wife owned and operated the Hide-a-way Lounge in Niles for several years. He also worked at Goodwill Industries. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post #51 in Buchanan and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2094 in Niles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and trips to the Canadian Wilderness every July and September for the past forty years.

On July 3, 1962 in Vandalia, Michigan he married the former Darlene Kay Leslie with whom he celebrated the forty-fifth anniversary of their wedding prior to her death on January 16, 2008. He was also preceded in death by a half-sister, Shirley Pavalanis in 2007.

Surviving family includes two daughters, Vickie C. (& Mark) Semrinec of Niles and Shelley L. (& Scott) Butrick of Dowagiac; grandchildren Jenna M. Semrinec and Kevin R. Wall, and step-grandchild Brett A. Butrick; four great-grandchildren; and Carroll’s sister, Mary Ellen (& Jim) Dewey of South Bend, half-brother Mike (& Diane) Pease of Niles, and step-siblings Sonny Yakim, Barry Yakim, Bill Yakim, Marion Arnald, and Joanne Bankston; and many nieces and nephews.
