Billy J. McDaniels was born January 27, 1933 in Selbyville, West Virginia to the late Marvin A. and Ella M. Nixon McDaniels. He entered the heavenly gates on August 18, 2015 in Tallahassee, Florida. He attended elementary school in Selbyville and attended junior and senior high school in Buchannon, West Virginia. Following his high school graduation, he received his B.S. from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia and a M.A. from Stetson University in Deland, Florida. He received an honorable discharge from the US Army as a First Lieutenant, serving in Korea and France. He was in the charge of the West Virginia United Methodist Church, where he met his wife, Barbara Armstrong. He then served the Orange County, Florida public school system as a principal and teacher for 31 ½ years. After moving to Tallahassee, Bill served Calvary United Methodist Church for 12 years before retiring and moving with his wife to Monticello to be near their daughter. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Steve Ashburn, all of Monticello. His son, Terry and brothers, Dixie McDaniels, Junior McDaniels and Eddie McDaniels, preceded him in death.
