Bennie G. Scott, 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 18, 2015. He was born July 31, 1925 to Rayford and Nettie Scott in Swainsboro, GA, and was one of six siblings. He is survived by a son Randy (Joni), two daughters, Suzanne (Kenneth Truxell) and Mary Lynn McKenzie (Tom), brother-in-law Louis Johnson (Patsy), grandson Edson McKenzie and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elyce Scott, his parents and siblings. Ben served as an Army CPL stationed at Dachau, Germany, in the early 1950s. He went on to have a successful career as a mechanic in the Vehicle Maintenance Facility with the U.S. Postal Service as well as opening Florida Transmission Service in 1961, which has been a family-owned business for over 54 years. Ben’s vivacious personality and love of a good joke will remain in our hearts forever. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his house overlooking Lake Talquin and was known for his love of fishing, gardening and cooking. He was a proud member of t he Lake Talquin Baptist Church and a founding member of the Marzuq Shrine Temple. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
