Alan Dean Jackman, 81, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015 at his residence in Tallahassee. A son of the late J Cleveland Jackman and Lily May Kendall Jackman, he was born January 30, 1934 in Burlington, Lowa.

He served in the US Army and was a retired chemist with the Department of Environmental Regulation. A member of the First Presbyterian Church in New London, Iowa, he enjoyed gardening, growing bamboo, computer, glass blowing and wood working. He also was on the Board of Directors for FIRE (Lighthouse for the Blind). Prior to moving to Florida, he was employed by the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant (IAAP), Ortho/Chevron Chemical.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Francy Jackman; children, Cathy Jackman Izquierdo (Manuel), Beverly Sorvillo, Kenneth Jackman (Laura), Dan Jackman (Sherri); grandchildren, Jeremy Izquierdo (Samantha), Troy Izquierdo, Teresa Kelly (James Cook), Andrew Jackman, Bryan Jackman (Kimberly), Melissa Jackman, Danielle Faircloth (Zach); great-grandchildren, Taylor Barnett, Jaydyn Izquierdo, Isabella Izquierdo, Jaysen Cook, Bentley Cook, Simon Jackman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Jackman.
