Mr. Al Hayse age 81 of Gantt passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 25, went home to be with his Lord and his beautiful wife, Ruth Hayse, who preceded him in death in 2013.
Mr. Hayse served 4 years in the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. He served many law enforcement agencies to include the Marion County Sheriff’s department, Crenshaw County Sheriff’s department and most recently with the Covington County Sheriff’s department. He also served as the Gantt Police Chief for many years. One of his most enjoyable achievements was getting to work for 8 years as the Straughn School Resource Officer; it was an honor to him to serve as mentor to young adults. Mr. Hayse was a 50 year member of the Gantt Masonic Lodge and a member of the American Legion.
