Morris James Freeland died on November 7, 2019, at his home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. He was 85 years old. Morris grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was the youngest of Edward and Eva Freeland’s five children.

In high school, he enjoyed going to dances and re-working his car’s exhaust system so it would make store windows rattle whenever he drove through town. After graduating from Cathedral High School, Morris joined the United States Coast Guard. While stationed at a base in Connecticut, he met his wife Patricia at a dance. They were married in January 1956 at the Church of Saint Mary in Milford, Connecticut.

After beginning his career as an electrician at the New Haven Railroad, Morris went on to work for various electrical contractors in the New Haven area. His love of warm weather eventually led him and Patricia to south Florida, where they lived for more than two decades.

He is predeceased by his brother Neil and sisters Josephine, Carol, and Viola.

He is survived by his wife and by his children, Timothy, Edward, Jeffrey, Scott, and Karyn, and 15 grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered for his love of old western movies and art, for the many practical skills he passed on to his children, and for his ceaseless devotion to his wife.
