Morris J. Blair, age 90 of Stockton, IL, passed away at home Friday, December 16, 2016. He was born September 21, 1926; the son of the late Orville and Ruth (Taylor) Blair. He was a graduate of Stockton High School. Morris had served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Mariam Pierce on May 15, 1948.
He was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Stockton where he was very involved in the church and had served on the church board. Morris also served on the Stockton School Board, the Jo Daviess County Farm Bureau, the Rush Township Board, and the Warren Fair Board where he had been a past president. He was also a 4-H leader and a Freemason. For all his contributions to the community, no accomplishment was greater than his role as a father and husband. He married his high school sweetheart (Mariam) and truly loved her for more than seventy years. He was a loving supportive father and a wonderful role model for his children and others. His big sunny smile filled the room and also the hearts of friends and family alike. He will be deeply missed.
Morris is survived by two sons, Curt (Linda) Blair of Madison, WI, and Brett Blair of Stockton; daughter, Beth (John) Mueller of Pecatonica, IL; grandchildren, Jeremy & Matthew and Jason, Arnold & Anna; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Marlow (Ardale) Townsend, Meredith (Pat) Townsend, and Mike (Bonnie) Townsend; and sisters, Marjorie Jergens, Marilyn (Bob) Davey, Myrna (Jack) Gusloff, and Maxine Franz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Lige Townsend; son, Tad; and granddaughter, Lacy.
