Morocca M. Kells, 60, of South Jacksonville, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born June 21, 1958, in Pittsfield, the daughter of Earl and Lillie M. Barrow Kells.
Morocca is survived by four sisters, Joyce (Jack, deceased) Sitton of Griggsville, Debra (Kenneth, deceased) Anders of Winchester, Elizabeth (Mark) Andrew of Griggsville, and Martha (David) Sharrow of Winchester; one brother, George (Lynnann) Kells of Hanibal, MO; special friends Barb and Larry Whewell, Bruce Bartz, and Chester Nolan; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; one sister, Sandra (surviving husband, David) Swartz; one brother, Stephen (surviving wife, Linda) Kells; two nephews, Kenneth Anders, Jr. and Matthew Swartz; and one niece Heather Kells.
Morocca attended Detroit Grade School and graduated from East Pike High School with the Class of 1976. She attended Quincy College and worked as a CNA and later as an LPN at Barton Stone Nursing Home after graduating from Jacksonville School of Practical Nursing in 1989.
Morocca was of the Baptist faith. In recent years she had attended Woodson Baptist Church and Alsey Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, hummingbirds, butterflies, collecting cookbooks and anything that was pug related. She will be sorely missed by her three pug dogs, Betty, Missy and Jay. She loved her family and enjoyed attending family gatherings and events.
