Mora E. Parriott, 73, of Freeport, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at FHN Memorial Hospital.Born April 6, 1935 in Hagerstown, Maryland she was the daughter of Edward W. and Elizabeth Jean (Davidson) Nash.
Mora worked at Crum & Forster in Freeport for several years before receiving her BA in education from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.For 21 years, she taught school at Carl Sandburg and the Senior High School in Freeport and after retiring from the classroom she was a tutor for 7 years at FHS.
Mora was an active participant in sports and life. She was an avid tennis player, golfer and swimmer. She enjoyed skiing, snorkeling and traveling. She appeared in plays and volunteered at Winneshiek Theater in Freeport and was active in the Red Hat Society.
Mora was a deeply committed member of the St. John United Church of Christ and loved her extended church family.
Surviving are two sons, Todd (Ann) Parriott of North Oaks, Minnesota and David Parriott of Denver, Colorado; her sister, Mary (Barry) Huntington of Grand Haven, Michigan; two grandchildren, Emily and Andrew Parriott both of North Oaks, Minnesota; and two nieces, Lisa Farrar of Phoenix, Arizona and Lizbeth Huntington of Grand Haven and two nephews, Jon Farrar of Rapid City, South Dakota and Sean Huntington of Holland, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Scott Parriott; and one brother, David Nash.
