Monty Gordon Gossett, age 55, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2008at the Evergreen Polson Health & Rehabilitation Center in Polson, Montana. He was born on October 12, 1952 in Lubbock, Texas the son of L.E. and Billie (Ray) Gossett.
At age four, he moved to Chowchilla, California residing there for 18 years. He attended school in Chowchilla, graduating in 1970. He then attended Fresno City College for 3 years graduating with an A.A. degree. He played Little League baseball, school baseball- both grade school and high school. He also belonged to the high school chess club.
While in school he worked in Glacier Park and fell in love with Montana and promised himself he would live in Montana.
In 1986, he went to Northwest of Havre part time where he worked at KAGM/KPQX radio station where he met his good friend Phlash Phelps. He is one of the first DJ’s to work on XM Satellite Radio.
Monty was introduced to the love of his life in 1989 by his future mother in law. He was married to Tammy Lynn Messier (Hardgrove) on February 17, 1990 at Central Christian Church in Kalispell. “He is the best Dad in the world and has the biggest heart”, and in 1991 he became the best dad to Katie and Travis. In 1994 God blest Tammy and Monty with a miracle child named Makayla Roberta.
He loved Glacier Park, Swift Current, the Amateur Radio Broadcast Radio, NASCAR, football especially the Denver Broncos when they won back to back Super Bowls in 1998-1999. He also enjoyed swimming at Woodland Park Pool with his children. He was also a long time member of the Church of Christ. He loved his church family very much.
Monty was preceded in death by his Dad and his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife Tammy of the family home, his three children, his mother Billie of Kalispell, MT; a brother Ronald Scott and wife Camille of Forks, WA, one niece Kacey Scott of Kalispell, MT.
