Monte “Buzz” Morgan died too soon in June 2022 at the age of 66 having battled with leukemia. He passed away at his cabin in Florissant, Colorado in the loving arms of his wife Maureen.
Buzz was born in June 1956 in Ogden, Utah the second of five children: Jackie (Mark) Cronkrite, Brett (Cindy) Morgan, Chris Bertram and Carole Bertram. His grandmother gave him the nickname “Buzz” because he was a very busy child. The nickname stuck for life, foretelling of a future love of strong coffee, a willingness to help folks in need as well as his can do attitude. With an adventurous spirit, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, traveled overseas and enjoyed many vacations with family and friends.
Buzz was a constantly active person. He met the love of his life, Maureen Morgan, during an emergency evacuation rescue while working at a California Ski resort. They married in June 1991 and their sons Nick and Alex were soon to follow. In life he had many roles but none more important than brother, husband, father and Bampa. Buzz’s life revolved around his family, first with his children & stepchildren and later his grandchildren. Buzz and Maureen settled into their Colorado mountains dream cabin in 2018.
Buzz is survived by his wife of 31 years Maureen Morgan, sons Nicholas Morgan and Alexander (Ashley) Morgan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Tara (Shon) Norris of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Cindy (Claire) Robinson of Salem, Oregon. his mother Connie (Ball) Bertram as well as grandsons Dylan, Tristan, Jackson and Jordan. He is preceded in death by his father Dell Morgan, his sister Carole Bertram and his granddaughter Kaitlyn Olivia Norris. He also leaves behind his faithful dog Lacy whose 30 pounds of sheer bravery will continue to guard the family cabin from all threats, human and animal alike
Buzz will be remembered as an avid rockhound, an ace mechanic, the chillest fishing buddy, the funnest ‘Bampa’ to his four grandchildren and the most loving and supportive brother, father and husband. Per his last wishes, Buzz will be cremated wearing shorts and a Carthartt shirt.
When I go, don’t learn to live without me, just learn to live with my love in a different way. And if you need to see me, close your eyes and look in your shadow when the sun shines. I am there. Sit with me in the quiet and you will know that I did not leave. There is no leaving when a soul is blended with another. When I go, don’t learn to live without me, just learn to look for me in the moments. I will be there.
