Monique Otegui Lang was born on February 25, 1966 in the Panama Canal Zone to Martha and Miguel

Otegui. She grew up in Northern Virginia with her sister, Martha, brother, Michael, and grandmother,

Victoria (Lila), and cherished ties to family and friends in Miami and Oviedo, Spain. She treasured her

early travels with her family, especially with her grandmother and sister, which began a life‐long love for

world travel.

She moved to Miami with her parents and grandmother in the early 1990s, and with a business degree

Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, where she would meet and marry the love of her life, Bob. Together,

they raised a family that included Alexander, who is now in college in Washington, D.C., and Maya, who

will graduate from high school this year. As a family, they continued to travel extensively, both

professionally and personally, with the most recent trips being to Singapore and Australia during the

summer of 2019, a very special week in Iceland over New Year’s Day.

Monique is survived by her husband, Bob, along with their son, Alexander, and daughter, Maya, who she

loved very dearly and was so very proud. She also leaves behind her mother, sister, brother, a niece and

nephews, and a very long list of extended family and friends. Her laughter, smile and good humor touched so many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
