Monika Leary died Wednesday, March 3, 2022, at Skyridge Hospital in Lone Tree, Colorado from medical complications. She was 74.
Monika was born Monika Gudrun Düringer July 3, 1947 in Wiesbaden, Germany to parents Peter Thorst and Ilse Christ. She married twice in her life, John Collins in 1968 and Richard Leary in 1976.
Monika is survived by her two children, Richard and Patricia, her three grandchildren, Logan, Allison and Emily as well as her sibling, Charlotte Schwab.
With the exception of a brief period of time in Florida in her early twenties, Monika spent most of her earlier years in Germany. She came to The US in 1977 with her husband at the time, Richard, and her daughter. She spent the remainder of her life in Colorado. Monika worked as a receptionist.
Monika’s true love in life was singing. She sang on stage in her twenties and later enjoyed singing Karaoke, both in clubs and online on Sing-snap. She forged many friendships through this hobby along the way.
Monika has been cremated and her family will have a private ceremony for her in the Colorado mountains.
