Moncerrato Torres, affectionately known by many as Paco, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020, at the age of 77 in Brighton, Colorado
Paco is survived by his wife, Mary Torres, Children: Janie (Alejandro) Salazar, Luis Carlos Garcia, Silva Torres, Joey (Linda) Torres, and Mark Garcia. His siblings: Cipriana (Carlos) Tejeda, Luis (Adelida) Torres, Saul Torres, and Janie Ramos. He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Sofia Torres, daughters, Leticia (Charlie) Sauceda, and Maria Olga Bynum, Parents: Domingo Torres and Juanita Garces, and four siblings.
Paco was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, on January 1, 1943, to Domingo and Juanita. The family later moved to Brownsville, TX, where he was raised. At the age of 18, he met his first wife, Sofia Montelongo. Monce and Sofia moved their family to Nebraska in the spring of 1964. Eventually settling in Brighton, Colorado farming the lands near 124th Ave and Hwy 85. He was a hardworking man, working several jobs throughout the years: Farming, Supervisor at Pickle Factory and most notably, Pipeline for 28 years. Paco lead many pipeline crews where they laid thousands of miles of gas pipelines all across the United States. After retiring from pipeline, he insisted on working and worked at Wal-Mart. There he met many new friends, both co-workers, and customers. Paco had the keen ability to make a friend wherever he went. He loved fiercely and had plenty of love for anyone who crossed his path.
He and Mary met in 1994, and married four years later in 1998. Mary loved everything about Monce, but what she loved the most was his “craziness.” Paco made it a point to always find ways of teasing her and all those around him. He gave everyone he knew a nickname that meant something special to him. They enjoyed walking and spoiling their grandpuppy- “Chewy” and watching their TV shows, especially NCIS, Chicago PD, and Live PD.
Monce especially enjoyed yard work, watching professional wrestling, and music- particularly Ramon Ayala.
Paco loved Mary, his family, and his many friends. He will always be loved and missed by many, he leaves a great legacy and will be remembered as the hard-working, loving man he was.
