Mona Waide Creech passed away after a long illness on January 13th, 2018.  She was seventy-nine.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Charlotte Waide, and one brother, Gene Terry Waide.  She is survived by her husband, Donald, and son Carl of Austin, daughter Caren of Boerne, son-in-law Jaime and grandson Brandon Berlanga. She is also survived by siblings Barbara LaPerna of Garner, North Carolina, James Waide of Hale Center, Texas, Peggy Ray of Baytown, Texas, Richard Waide of Otis Orchards, Washington, and Roy Waide of Dalhart, Texas.

Mona was born in Dalhart, Texas on March 5th, 1938.  She grew up in the Texas Panhandle, and attended Texas Women’s University in Denton.  After graduating in 1960, she entered an internship program with the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D. C.  There she met fellow Texan, Donald Creech.  Mona and Don moved to Atlanta, Georgia, with their jobs, where they were married in 1961.  After moving back to Texas, they lived in Fort Worth, San Antonio, and eventually settled in Boerne with their family in 1974.  In Boerne, Mona found time to pursue her passions of gardening, taking care of animals, and reading.
