Molly Ann Payton Strickland spent over 84 years on her earthly journey. On Sunday evening she was called home by the God she loved and believed in so deeply. She was born March 6, 1933 in Newnan to the late William Harvey and Annie Belle Samples Payton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Ludene Atkins, Joyce Andrews, Jimmy Payton, Thelma Winkles, Christine Scott and Floyd Payton. Molly loved a life full of the outdoors, spontaneous trips, children and grandchildren. She married Weldon Eugene Strickland in 1949 and for 65 years they lived their dream life together and brought a motor home into their life for even more adventure. As much as she liked being out and about, Molly had a deep love for her little home. She was in her element when working in her yard or fussing over some improvement to her beloved house. It is only fitting that her earthly life ended on Sunday at the steps to her home. Molly and Weldon joined Westside Baptist Church and she had been a member for over 30 years. The Bible says, “her children arise up and call her blessed”, and Molly’s children would surely find that appropriate for their mother. She is survived by her daughters Susan Hardigree and her husband Mike, Eve Martin and her husband Doug; her son David Strickland and his wife Pamela. She adored her grandchildren Julie Hardigree, Jayson Hardigree, Jefferson Alexander Wallace, Jeremy Strickland, Erin Martin and Taylor Martin. She has four great grandchildren.
