Mittie Risor Thomas, a long-time resident of Eight Mile, Alabama, passed away on May 26, 2016, at a local hospital. She was born September 27, 1927, in Okolona, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Allison Risor and Maggie Morris Risor, and all of her 9 siblings: Preston Platt, Tommie Risor, Emma Mae Wilemon, Johnnie Risor, Vivian Charlton, Buddie Risor, Howard Risor, Mary Syron, and Shirley Roberts.
She was married for 70 years and 9 days to the love of her life, Wilbur Preston Thomas, who preceded in her in death just a few months ago on January 9th. She is survived by her children: Larry (Marlene) Thomas and Cynthia (Harry) Lewis, her grandchildren: Marla T. (Rodney) Mauroner, Larry (Katee) Thomas, Jr., Jason Lewis, and Brittany L. (Ryan) Peckham, and her 5 great-grandchildren: Aiden, Ethan, and Noah Mauroner, and Addison and Charles Thomas, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was truly a Proverbs 31 homemaker. She was a long-time active member of Victory Assembly of God Church, Eight Mile, Alabama, where she served faithfully as a Missionettes Sponsor, Women’s Ministries Leader, and Sunday School Teacher.
