She was born July 21, 1957, in Stokes County, NC. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and was a substitute teacher for many years.
Mittie was predeceased by her mother, Maeola Newman and her father-in-law, Paul Barr.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 30 years, Karl Barr, two sons: Jeremiah Keith Barr and wife Heather and Christopher Paul Barr, six sisters: Joann, Nancy, Minnie, Elizabeth, Barbara, and Marie, three brothers: Jimmy, William, and David, mother-in-law, Billie Barr, brother-in-law: Jeff and wife Jeneth Barr, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
