He was born on August 27, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Frank and Yolanda. Growing up, Mitch played hockey. He was the best backwards skater in the league. He attended Lincoln Park High School and joined the football and baseball teams. He loved our country, enlisted and served proudly in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam. When Mitch was 29 years old, he met Pamela Joyce Dean. They were married June of 1981 and had two children together, Zachary Joseph Jensen and Andrew Joshua Jensen. Mitch began his firefighting career at the Woodhaven Fire Department. From there, he moved to the Trenton Fire Department where he retired as a Fire Captain. Still having a need to serve, Mitch began his time at the Riverview Fire Department where he started as a dispatcher. Shortly, he was back in the ranks as the Fire Marshall and ended his time as the Deputy Fire Chief. After retiring again, Mitch enjoyed afternoons at Drink’s Saloon and Buffalo Wild Wings, bonfires and nights with family and friends, and his first Lions game at Ford Field. Mitch was a patriot, a warrior, a soldier, a leader, a friend, and the best Dad his children could have asked for. The lives he saved are countless and he had an impact on everyone that he met. He loved the community so much. He was always the first man to run into a burning building and the last one to leave the command center. Mitch enjoyed watching the Red Wings and Tigers, and his love for sports gave him the desire to umpire in his spare time. His passion and great strike zone knew every rule in the book. He also loved fishing, hunting and golf. He was an animal lover and had a special way and relationship with dogs like Daisy and Rosie. Animals always gravitated to him because they can tell when a person is good. He loved his cottage, boating and the movies. Mitch is survived by his two children: Zack Jensen and AJ (Cat) Jensen, and his four grandchildren: Dominic, Autumn, Jackson and Carter. He will be missed by his many furry friends, especially Lily.
