Miss Katherine “Katiebug” Hixson Bearden, age 16, of Dalton, Georgia, went home to be with Jesus after a hard battle with a brain tumor at Hamilton Medical Center on Friday, July 11, 2014. Katie was born on July 26, 1997 in Chapel Hill, NC. She was a senior at Southeast High School, where she received a Presidential Scholarship for medical school. She was beginning dual enrollment in the fall. Katie was always active in her school activities. She was in the church and school choir. She loved to work with children. Katie enjoyed gym and dance at Dalton Dance.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Randall Hixson; and her grandmother, Stella Poteet. Katie was the daughter of Chaplain Cyndi Bearden and Bree Cobb (Maw B) of Dalton.
She is also survived by her great grandmother, Evelyn Jacobs Tharp; her boyfriend of 4 years who set faithfully by her side, Isaiah Olguin of Dalton; sisters, Krissy Frye of North Carolina, and Amber Souther of Ringgold; brothers, Justin Morgan, Jacob Lynn and Hunter Morgan all of Chattanooga, TN; Aunts, Linda Lynn, Tracy Moore, Tammy Nicholson and Tara Shed.
