Mrs. Johnston was born March 14, 1919 in Washington DC, daughter of the late Frank and Felicia (Williams) Hanson. Raised in Waterbury she was a graduate of Crosby High School, attended the American International College in Springfield, MA and was a graduate of the Waterbury Hospital Nursing School. She had worked as a nurse at the Waterbury Hospital and Cook Willow Convalescent Home in Plymouth.
