Miranda Charmaine Frierson Small was born in Jackson, Alabama on August 9, 1985, to Sandra Ludgood Faris and the late Fred Spencer Small Jr.  She graduated in 2004 from Jackson High School and earned a scholarship for her athletic abilities in basketball from Lawson State Community College in Birmingham Alabama.  Her academic gifts were highlighted in her continued exploration of education at Remington College and Virginia College in Mobile, Alabama where she earned a degree in Radiologic Tech.

Miranda loved her children dearly.  Her faith shines through in her beliefs and aspirations for them.  Spending even a little time in her company, you knew her most precious treasures were Kylar and Kemaria.  She and Kylar shared a love for music and animals.  Equally, she and Kemaria loved sports specifically, softball and basketball.

In addition to her love for her children and family, she herself was passionate about sports, fashion and enjoyed traveling.  She understood people and could touch the soul of anyone within a few moments of a heart-to-heart conversation.  Miranda’s heart most often met individuals with honesty and simplicity.

While some may think God has taken her far too soon, we can all hear her saying “don’t worry about me, I’ll be alright.”  She might also say, “don’t look for me, you see me in my children and in my love for you all.”  March 11, 2022, Miranda found peace in God’s arm.   Preceding her in Heaven were her loving father Fred Spencer Small Jr., her grandparents Mary Ellen Bush and Clarence Ludgood, and Annie M. and Fred Small Sr.

Left to cherish her legacy and precious memories are her mother, Sandra (Alfredo) Ludgood Faris:  her two children Kylar Small and Kemaria Small-Foreman:  her siblings Antonio (Tammy) Small Fayetteville, GA, Byron Frierson Jackson, Alabama, Shanita Small Charlotte, NC, Anthony (Christie) Small Charlotte, NC, Nerissa Simmons Norfolk, VA, Andrea (Christopher) Payne Jackson, Al, Danielle Kimbrough Birmingham, Alabama, and Kendra Harris Jackson, Alabama.

One uncle Tracy (Sara) Ludgood Caledonia, MN; her five aunts Teresa (Leon) McNair and Francine Small both of Plymouth, NC, Mary (Willie) Donald and Bessie Harris both of Jackson, AL, Dina (Greg) Savage of McDonough, GA.  One great aunt Emma Thompson Mobile, AL.  Most dear to her were the host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will continue to honor her memory and life.
