Upland: Mira I. Allen, 102, former Upland resident passed away at 6:40 a.m. Monday at Muncie Health Rehabilitation Center where she had resided since 2003.
Mrs. Allen was born in Lakota, Iowa the daughter of the late Robert and Etta (Huntley) Packard. She was a graduate of North High School, Des Moines Iowa and also earned an Associate of Arts Degree in 1928 from Beulah College. She married Deane C. Allen on July 2, 1931 in Des Moines.
He preceded her in death in 1976. She had lived in Upland from 1980 – 2003, and spent 60 years in Dallas Center, Iowa. While in Upland she attended the Upland Community Church and formerly the Park Place Church of God, Anderson. She enjoyed flower gardening, family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Richard D. Allen, Honolulu, Hawaii; a daughter, Miriam (Dr. Daniel) Jeran, Alexandria; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gordon, an infant son; three sisters, and four brothers.
