Minnie Thatch Jamar was born May 10, 1950 in Limestone County, AL to the late John Henry Sr. and Marie McKinney Thatch. She departed this life on February 16, 2017 at her home in Madison, Alabama.

She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem P.B.Church under the leadership of Rev Willie E. Owes and later served faithfully under Pastor Joe Cater. She was faithful in her duties until her health declined. She was a member of many organizations of the church: Mother’s Board, #2 Choir, Sanctuary Choir, Program Committee, VBS Director, Youth Director, Sunday School teacher and Bible Class treasurer.

Minnie was a 1968 Trinity High School graduate. She was a 2 year scholarship recipient of Athens State University. Upon graduation she attended J.F. Drake State Technical College and subsequently transferred to Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with Honors.

She was employed at Alabama A & M University in the Music Department as a Senior Secretary/Office Manager for over 30 years. She worked for Dr. Henry Bradford for many years. She retired in May 2005. Minnie was an avid bowler, chess player, the family seamstress, and a courageous singer for the Lord!

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ivan C. Jamar (Buck); her parents and brother, the Rev John Henry Thatch Jr. (Sonny Boy)

She leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Jeffrey (Tolice) Hambrick of Madison, AL, Walter Holt and Terry Holt (Chanell) all of Huntsville, AL; her daughters, Raquel (Alfred) Moore of Harvest, AL, and Tiffany Swoope of Atlanta, GA; three devoted sisters, Willie M. Bristow of Madison, AL, Catherine (Colonel) Robbins of Toney, AL, and Helen (Bobby) McDonald of Madison, AL; great aunt, Savannah Hundley of Madison, AL; four aunts, Marilyn E. Dennis of Decatur, AL,  Annie M. Harris of Chicago, IL,  Essie L. (Ferdinand) Hammonds of Madison,  AL, Earnestine N. Watts of St. Louis, MO; three uncles, the Rev. John I. Thatch of Madison AL, Cornell D. (Marilyn) Thatch of Riverdale, GA, the Rev. Ronnie Thatch of Madison, AL; two sisters in law,  Mother Viola Booker of Madison, AL, and Emma Thatch of Madison, AL; four brothers in law, David (Eloise) Jamar of Montgomery, AL, Raymond (Marie) Jamar of Toney, AL, Ervin (Dee) Jamar of Madison, AL, and Jerry Wayne (Jewel) of Madison, AL. a best friend, Mildred Collier of Madison, AL; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
