Minnie Sarah Wade was born on May 5, 1935, in Charles County, MD, She was one of four children born to Ada Montgomery. Minnie was a gentle and elegant lady. Everything about her personal appearance and her home was always fashionable and impeccable.

She was educated in the Charles County Public School System. At an early age, Christ became the head of her life and she joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was faithful in her membership. She sang on the Senior Choir for more than forty years, and was a member of many auxiliaries, including, the scholarship committee and the women’s auxiliary. On the hospitality committee, she was one of three “Pastry Ladies” who had responsibility for the desserts. She served cakes and pies, some of which were her own homemade pound cakes, with a sweet smile and pleasant attitude. She served her church faithfully until her health began to fail and she was no longer able to attend. As much as Minnie loved her church, she also loved the man of her life and dreams, the late Howard P. Wade, to whom she was married for 55 years. During their marriage, they enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite vacations was a cross¬ country road trip that she and Howard took with his sister, Doris and late brother-in-law, John.

She created a warm and loving atmosphere in her home. Family members, neighbors and friends enjoyed Minnie’s good cooking and Howard’s ribs from the grill dining the many cookouts that they hosted. Minnie had great love for her family. She was always supportive and caring.

On July 4, 2015, God received Minnie into his arms. She transitioned peacefully, with family at her bedside, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ada Montgomery; husband, Howard P. Wade; her siblings, Fred, Leo and Alice Montgomery. While Minnie had a set of siblings, she also had a set of cousins, whom she considered her sisters and brother: Constance Jordan and her husband Carl; the late Bernice Posey and her husband Gordon; Daisy Greenfield and her husband Carl; James “Bubba” Montgomery; and Shirley Borden and her husband Kenny.
