Minnie Elizabeth Hester Prater, 82, passed away Monday Sept. 7 at Fleming County Hospital.
She was born June 16, 1933 on Hester Ridge in Fleming County to the late Everett and Edith McRoberts Hester.
She was the wife of Delmas Prater, whom she married Nov. 20, 1952 who survives.
Minnie was a member of the Petersville Church of Christ in Lewis County where she attended her entire life.
She was a lady of many talents. From dump truck operator to well-known quilter to being very involved in the development of the Sugarloaf Christian Camp where she served as cook since its beginning.
Her quilts were her passion since her childhood. They have been on display at many significant places.
She is survived by 3 children Teresa (Randy) Carmichael, Anthony (Diana) Prater, and Tracy (Wilma) Prater, all of Fleming County; 5 grandchildren Erin (John) Sargent, Cory (Selina) Prater, Kelsey Prater, Tracy “T” Prater, and Whitney Prater; 4 great grandchildren, Ella and Conner Sargent, and Kylee and Addison Prater; 1 brother Jess Hester of Mason County and 1 sister Joyce Singleton of Fleming County.
Predeceased by brothers Noel, Clayton, Keith, and Raymond Hester and sisters Blanche Doyle and Lela Rankin.
