Milton P. Holtzen of Deshler, NE, the son of Alvin and Nellie (Dunker) Holtzen, was born February 3, 1919 Hebron, Nebraska. He departed this life on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Parkview Haven in Deshler, NE at the age of 91 years.

Milton grew up on a farm in the Deshler area. He was baptized, confirmed, and married to Lillie Schardt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedensau, NE. He attended Trinity Lutheran School through the 8th grade. In 1944 he received his teaching degree from Concordia University, Seward, NE.
For the next 33 years Milton taught in the Lutheran school system in Nebraska, California, Iowa, and Michigan. He was an active member of each congregation as a choir director, organist, church councilman, and classroom teacher. After retiring from teaching he was active at Faith Lutheran in Hebron, and St. Peter’s Lutheran in Deshler. He also worked at Reinke Manufacturing for 5 years.

Milton’s past time was spent gardening, raising hogs and chickens, milking cows, and taking interest in learning more about investment/financing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lillie, brothers; Roy, Elder, infant brother Wilfred, sisters, Grace Schardt and Ethel Hulse.

He is survived by two sons, Roger and wife Harriet of Redding, CA, and Gary and wife Judy of Muskego, WI, one daughter Karen Cosson and husband Dan of Lincoln, NE, 8 grandchildren; Aaron and Matthew Cosson, Amy, Greg, Andy, Brad and Tom Holtzen and Dawn Nawrocki, 13 great-grandchildren, brothers; Henry Holtzen of Papillion, NE, and Willard Holtzen and wife Joan of Gilbert, AR, sisters, Fern Hofts of Deshler, NE, Wilma Anderson of Shickley, NE, Lorna Harms and husband Don of Deshler, NE, and Audrey Dittmer and husband Joe of Byron, NE, sister-in law Luella Holtzen of Coldcamp, MO, brother-in-law Cliff Hulse of York, NE, nieces, nephews and friends.
