Milo Thomas Shaveland died peacefully on April 11, 2018, at the Emmetsburg Care Center.
Milo Shaveland, the son of William and Clara (Kern) Shaveland was born at Mallard, IA, on December 27, 1927, the oldest of two children. Milo attended the Mallard Community School, graduating in 1945. After graduation, he farmed with his father. Milo lived on the family farm with the exception of a couple of years when he was younger. On September 16, 1950, he was united in marriage to Elsie Clausen on the Clausen family farm. Blessed to them were two daughters, Linda and Sandra. Milo and Elsie lived on the “well kept” Shaveland farm near Mallard all their life until they moved to the Emmetsburg Care Center in October of 2011. Milo and Elsie worked together to manage the family farm and raise their two daughters. He loved being a farmer raising corn, and soybeans, and tending a cow/calf herd.
Through the years he made many farm building updates to beautify their acreage. There was never anything out of place. His hobby was truly taking care of the land and farmstead. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mallard. Milo died on April 11, 2018, at the Emmetsburg Care Center at the age of 90.
