Mother Millie A. McDonald Pruitt was born September 7, 1932 to the late Mollie Jones and Phillip McDonald. Mother Pruitt went to spend eternal rest on Monday, December 1, 2014 at USA Rehabilitation Center in Decatur, Alabama.

She confessed Christ at an early age and joined First Missionary Baptist Church in Courtland, Alabama where she served faithfully until her health began to fail. She served in the choir, where she sang Zion songs, she later joined the Mother’s Board where she also served faithfully.

Mother Pruitt was known as Big Mama in her neighborhood in Decatur. She was a nice mother, grandmother, great grandmother who had a beautiful smile. She was very fashionable in her hats.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Gholston Sr., her parents and two infant sons, three sisters, Pearl Ella Jones, Annie P. Hampton, Mollie Orr; granddaughter, Christina Pearson.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Ann Gholston Ashford; devoted and  loving son-in-law,  who was like a son to her Rev. Joseph  B. Ashford Sr. of Decatur, AL; also four sons, Clinton Gholston Jr., Charles Gholston (Jacqueline) of Hillsboro, Rev. Odell Gholston (Luella) of Mt. Hope, AL, James  Gholston (Celestine) Decatur; eight grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and step-grandchildren; three sisters, Rosie Hampton of Courtland, AL, Mattie Miller of Hillsboro, AL, Helen Goode (Otis) Decatur, AL; three brothers, Tommie Hampton (Lillie) Hillsboro, AL, Flemotis Hampton (Dorothy) of Courtland, AL, Willie B. Hampton (Dorothy) of Courtland, AL; brother-in-law, Johnnie Orr of Courtland, AL; two aunts, Willodean Gilliam of East Liver Pool, OH, Beatrice Thompson, Weirton, VA; one uncle, William Gilchrist of Courtland, AL; a special cousin Jeffella Reedus of Courtland, AL, and friends Winnie Sanford, Annie Mae Nelson, Mary Gholston; a devoted nephew, Hubert Gholston, a host of generations of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
