Millicent R. “Millie” Litwiller Allison, 85, Anderson, went home to be with her Lord in the presence of her family of January 20, 2009 after an extended illness. She was born on September 29, 1923 in Chenoa, Illinois the daughter of Christian and Bessie Yoder Litwiller.

She grew up in Berne, Indiana and moved to Anderson in 1970 where she lived the remainder of her life. While she never graduated from high school, she was granted the equivalent of a GED from the Chicago Public Schools in May 1949. Upon receipt, she entered Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois where in December 1950, she received her Teacher’s Diploma from the Evangelical Teacher Training Association. She put her training to good use. Under the authority of the Mennonite Central Committee she taught underprivileged children in Gulfport, Mississippi. It was there that she met her husband of 56 years, Charles E. Allison. The two were married in Berne, Indiana on June 7, 1952.

Millie was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. For many years she was a member of the America Sewing Guild. She provided valuable sewing services not only to her family, but to countless people in Anderson and the surrounding area. When age and health deprived her of her ability to sew, a great number of people lost a talented and caring provider.

Millie was also a long time member of West Cross Street Alliance Church. There she used her education to teach Sunday school for many years. Her love for the Lord also compelled her to host summer, Child Evangelism Fellowship programs in her home located in Victory Gardens north of Anderson. Hundreds of neighborhood children heard the Gospel message and learned about the love of Christ because of her hospitality.
