DOUGLASS, Millard “Red” Millard Arden Douglass, age 94, passed away November 16, 2017 in Lakeland, FL. Arden was born November 4, 1923 in Alaska, MI, the son of Earl and Esther (Faught) Douglass. He served overseas in the U.S. Army during WWII, receiving many decorations including the Purple Heart. Arden fell in love and married Dorothy Rose Shores on February 1, 1946. He worked as a farmer (a true passion) with his family for many years and then became employed at General Motors for 32 years prior to retirement.
Arden also had a passion for motorcycles and was so proud when he bought his 1st Harley Davidson.He loved playing golf, which he played almost daily until his late 80’s. Arden was known as a very honest person and was a true man of his word. He was a very hard worker and dedicated family man. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in 1994; by his parents; a sister Marguerite Homrich; his daughter Pamela Crim; and a daughter-in-law Christina Douglass. On February 14, 1995 he was united in marriage to Doris Marie Simon, who survives.
Also surviving are his four sons and spouses, Russ (Morgan) Douglass, David (Beth) Douglass, James (Karen) Douglass, Craig (Julie) Douglass; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Lona Hineline and Barbara Tichvon.
