MILFRED F. SMITH, 87, died on Saturday, November 30, 2013. He was born May 12, 1926 in Shelby, N.C.
Milfred served in the US Marine Corps 1943 to 1946 in the South Pacific, and then in the US Air Force 1948 to 1986, retired as captain. He graduated 1957 Long Beach State College, with BS in physics & chemistry. In 1983 he completed his Master’s degree in Computer Science from West Coast University.
He worked for Autonetics-Rockwell-Boeing in financial management, retiring at age 58. He served 22 years in Kiwanis, including one as Lieutenant Governor. His activities and interests included high school Golden Glove boxer, Boy Scout leader, hiking, family genealogy, and study of the Bible. Learning the building trade from his uncles, he built two houses, one in Biloxi, MS and one in Downey, CA.
He is survived by his spouse Dianne, sons John and Robert, and daughters Elizabeth and Kathleen, step-son Charles, step-daughter Julie, and brother Ken. He has fourteen grandchildren, April, Patricia, Caprice, Crystal, Sarah, Stephanie, Luke, Jonathan, Danielle, Jeffrey, Kayla, Karlye, Kellye, and Lindsey. He has 27 Great Grandchildren
