Miles Wayne Golson, “Mike”, was born on July 7, 1949, in Bronx New York to Amelia Hubbard and Eugene Golson, later he was raised by Reverend L.C. and Vivian Caldwell, who preceded him in death. God called Miles home on Thursday, June 7, 2012.
Miles was a man of great intellect (he was known for both his wit and “street” smarts). He graduated from Port Chester Senior High School, in Port Chester, New York in 1967. Upon graduation, he attended Livingston College in North Carolina. Miles joined the United States Army in 1970 where he served for four years until he was honorably discharged. In 1976, Miles obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina.
Miles was employed at the American Legion and later at the U.S.
As former D.J., Miles was an avid lover of music and took pride in his vast music collection. He was a true social butterfly who really loved having a good time listing to music, laughing and enjoying his family and friends. There was never a dull moment when he was around. His bright eyes and smile will be missed.
Miles was a member of Greater MT. Nebo A.M.E. Church in Upper Marlboro, MD, for several years. He joined the Masonic Family in the 90’s and became a 32nd Degree Mason, he was a Past Master of Fairmont Lodge no. 92, a member of James A. Mingo Consistory MD. 334, MISR Temple no. 213, and Keystone Chapter. No. 10 Royal Arch Masonry.
After a long illness that began in 2005, Miles entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Washington D.C.
Miles will forever be loved and remembered by his daughter, lkia (James) Nelson; step-daughter, Valecia (Juan) Biddix; grandchildren, N’kaih, Damonte’, Jaea’, James III (LJ) and Jamir and a host of other family and friends.
