Mildred Westbury Baker, 89, widower of Julian Lamar Baker, of 328 East Main Street, Harleyville, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 29, 2016.

Mildred was born on September 13, 1927 in Branchville, a daughter of the late Dove Lee and Carrie Eugenia Thompson Westbury and was raised by her aunt and uncle, Richard and Mamie Thompson of Branchville, SC.  She was a graduate of Branchville High School, a Clerk with the First National Bank of South Carolina and a cashier with Piggly Wiggly of Harleyville.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Harleyville, the Women’s Missionary Society and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was predeceased by siblings, Donald E. Westbury, Dove C. Westbury, Carrie Russell, Myrle W. Yaun, Elizabeth W. McInnes, Annelle W. Rickenbaker and Joan R. Barnette.    

Surviving is her son, Dennis Lamar (Kay) Baker, Summerville; two daughters, Mildred Eugenia “Jeannie” (Kirby) Knight, Harleyville and Marlene Elizabeth (Gary) Christensen, Hanahan; grandchildren, Kally (Ashlee) Knight, Summerville, Ryan (Susan) Knight, Bogato, Colombia, Mindy (Dani) Marchant, Columbia, Bryan (Emily) Baker, Charleston, Kevin (Price) Baker, Anderson and Gary (Julie) Christensen, Hanahan; great-grandchildren, Harper and Hudson Christensen, Cohen and Branson Baker and Riley Reese Knight; several nieces and nephews; caregivers, Juanita Owens, Evelyn Williams, Marilyn Neals, Mae Davis, Helen Footman and Edna Boyd.
