Millie was born in Dustin, Oklahoma to Elbert Roberts and Belle Petty. She was the eldest of three children. She grew up in Oklahoma City and attended the University of Oklahoma where she received her bachelor’s degree in accounting. While working as an accountant for the university, she met Donald Steeber, an instructor at the FAA academy. The two were married on December 28, 1963. They had two daughters, Julie and Amy. The family located to Aurora, CO in 1971 where they lived for 17 years. In addition to raising her children, Millie had many hobbies, including square-dancing, golfing, bowling, playing bridge, and painting. She was very active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She also held a part time job as a bookkeeper at a local gift shop. In 1988 Millie and Don moved back Oklahoma City. There she cared for her aging parents and worked as a tax preparer at H&R Block. After 10 years in Oklahoma, the two returned to Colorado and eventually settled in Highlands Ranch. She delighted in her seven grandchildren, who know her as Mimi. She bravely battled Parkinson’s disease for over ten years before finally succumbing to the illness on May 4.
Millie is survived by her daughters Julie (Shawn) Maloy, Amy (Brett) Linscott , both of Littleton, her brother Alvin, or Amarillo, TX, and her seven grandchildren: Colin, Lauren, Riley, Anna, Brenna, Aidan, and Luke. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald and her sister Jewel, of Oklahoma City.
