Mildred (Moody) Garth Christian passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Village in Moscow on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the age of 91. She was born January 4, 1925 in St. Marys, PA to George and Katherine Pfaff Garth. She attended local schools and graduated from Penn State University. Upon graduation, she worked for the county as a social worker. Moody met Ross Christian on a blind date and was married September 10, 1946 in Middleton, PA. They moved to Madison, WI where Ross received his PhD. In 1950, they moved to Pullman where Ross was employed at Washington State College and in 1956 they moved to Moscow where Ross was employed at the University of Idaho. Moody was first employed by the Genesee Public Schools and then by the Moscow Public Schools. She received an MS in Library Sciences becoming the Moscow High School librarian and retired in 1987. Moody enjoyed many interests including fishing, golfing and RVing and later went on many Roadrunner trips. She was active the Gritman Hospital ‘Pink Ladies’ and in the University of Idaho Retirees Association. Her true loves were bridge and reading. Moody is survived by two children Edward (and wife Kathy) Christian of Moscow and Rebecca (and husband Doug) Melton of Spirit Lake, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Margie McAlpine of Cedaredge, CO. Her husband, Ross, her parents and a brother and a sister preceded her in death.
